Hi all CVCrs,

We have been hearing from folks having an interest in organizing a ‘gravel ride.’  Fine, we will organize a gravel ride.  Done.  What’s a gravel ride?  Some call it an ‘allroads’ ride, others an ‘adventure ride,’ we’ll call it a rough ride.  It’s on both pavement and dirt and non-technical.  It’s not really a mountain bike ride as much of the ride is on the road,  but fun for any road bike with wider tires, say 30mm to 45mm, no suspension.  Bring your cyclocross rig, your gravel bike, your klunker, your widest tire road bike, or your rigid.

Please join us on Sunday, June 7th, 2015, at 9:00AM for CVC’s inaugural Rough Ride.  First up is what we call the Dirty Sycamore.  This ride begins in Dos Vientos and heads out to the main entrance of Sycamore Canyon / Satwiwa Park.  From there, we’ll cycle down the asphalt road into the canyon and turn right on Ranch Center Road, a non-maintained, deteriorating access road that leads up and over to Wood Canyon.  From there we’ll continue down Wood Canyon along a dirt road which eventually takes us back to the main Sycamore road (dirt) and further south to the campgrounds at PCH.  After a short break, we’ll head back up the main Sycamore road all the way up the canyon and retrace our route to the cars.  Coffee, muffins, and energy bars at Beano Vino where we parked.  About 20 miles; ride time should be about 2 hours.

Ride Start: Meet at the Paraiso Town Center at 350 Via Las Brisas, Thousand Oaks, 91320.
Start location:  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7984080   (zoom out to view map)

We will meet in the back area of the parking lot furthest from the retail.   Meet at 8:45am and be ready to ride by 9:00am.   The pace will be gold.  Any questions, contact David, the ride scheduler, at  cylon.rider@verizon.net  .

As this is our inaugural ride, please take a moment to RSVP  cylon.rider@verizon.net  if you think you'll be joining.

Thanks,
David Yarden
