Hi CVC'ers
In addition to Cam's email ride announcement below
several of us Red Riders have expressed interest in a longer preliminary ride
to the "Spokes in the Oaks" event that we plan on riding in as a club starting at 10:00

Cam will still have his announced ride at 8:30am
    The proposed longer ride is:
8:00am from the Landing Parking lot
      Route: around the Lake
                   Up Rock Store
Down & back up Upper Encinal Canyon
                    Down Westlake Blvd.
10:00 am at Townsgate for the Spokes in the Oaks event

CVC RIDE PREVIEW
October 31-November 5

-THE WEEKLY RIDES-

Please read.  This has been witnessed often recently on the club rides and poses  a dangerous situation.
When in single file formation and you want to move up, do not make your pass on a blind bend.  There may be cars coming in the opposite direction who may be making room for cyclist(s) on the other side of the road.  Wait to make your move until you have full view of the road ahead.

Saturday: 8:30am at The Landing parking lot

CVC is showing it’s support for this great celebration.  We will have a short ride before the event ride so that we can roll over to the start as a unified club while flying our colors.

Some info from the city of Thousand Oaks:
"The 'Spokes in the Oaks' streets will be closed to motorized traffic for the day, bringing the streets alive with all forms of people-powered movement. You can walk, bike, run, skate to participate, plus we will have hubs of entertainment, food and activities for all ages.

The event will extend along a 1.7-mile route from the corner of Townsgate and Triunfo Canyon Road with a route opening by Mayor Adam. First 1000 guests to the event will receive a complimentary water bottle from the City!

These 'Open Streets' events are inspired by the weekly Ciclovia Events that started in Bogota, Columbia. Any Open Streets is a celebration that temporarily opens a stretch of city roads to all of the community turning our streets into an activity place.

Visit www.toaks.org/living/spokes_in_the_oaks/default.asp for more information."

---------------------------------

Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row.  Do not park next to the homes.

** This is considered a "no drop" ride.  The ride leader will keep an eye on everyone. No one is left behind.

All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped.  As always we will try to stick together and have a fun,  safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.

If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader.

It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag) and that your bike is in working condition as well.

That’s all for now, folks.  Have a great week!

Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
