Question of the week:  What can I do to help, who will help me?

There are several ways to help our fellow residents with the recent crises.

Aid for Affected Residents:

The United Way of Greater Los Angeles is partnering with United Way of Ventura County to collect donations for its its Disaster Relief Fund.

The CCF Wildfire Relief Fund supports immediate recovery efforts for major California wildfires, as well as long-term preparedness efforts.

Animal Rescues:

The Humane Society of Ventura County is accepting animals evacuating from the Hill and Woolsey fires. You can also donate directly to the organization or purchase items like food and toys through their Amazon wish list.

If you are needing help of any kind, reach out to your fellow cyclists.  Don’t try and do it all alone.  I’ve got a power washer and a lot of elbow grease.

When riding with us:

·      wear helmets and ensure your bike is in good working order

·      stay in bike lanes and no more than two abreast on them; single file otherwise

·      not overlap wheels

·      descend carefully!  Look out for debris, animals, potholes, tight bends, and slick spots

·      pass slower riders on the left

·      ride predictably: signal when changing lines and call out hazards

·      avoid bunching up

·      respect all traffic rules and the rights of motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians

·      Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride.  Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
