WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT
Hey CVC,
The weather looks great this weekend. Cloudy in the mornings should give us cooler days! And the winds look pretty moderate, so we are good to go!

A special thanks to Sheri, Kent and everyone who made last weekend's Benefit Ride and Picnic a huge success! You guys made it look easy, but it's a huuuuuuge job. Thanks again. What fun!

On Saturday we've got four rides. The Red Ride is going up Rock Store and then Encinal Canyon, before tackling the dreaded Poterero Wall coming up from CSU. Then a cruise through Hidden Valley and home. The Orange ride is heading up Cornell to Mulholland as well, but then turn south toward Calabasas and climb Piuma before descending Stunt, back up 7-Minute and home through Calabasas. And the Gold ride is headed south too, but will roll North toward the Rock Store around Lake Malibou, then south on Mulholland to do 7-minute Hill and come home through Calabasas and over Mureau. And the Purple Ride will be doing a nice out-n-back around Lake Sherwood and to the stables in Hidden Valley.

On Sunday, it's "How Many Ways Can You Get to Wildwood?" I will lead a Red Sprinter's Ride through Thousand Oaks, Dos Vientos, Wildwood and back over Westlake and Kanan. The Gold ride will do the moderate climbing version through Oak Park first, then over Erbes, Wildwood before coming back over La Granada and Old Conejo. And the social ride is heading directly for Wildwood over Old Conejo and Las Flores before looping up over Pederson after the park. Let's see where we all cross paths. And start a great Mother's Day!

We've also got midweek rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings, the Wednesday afternoon ride with Sheri, and the Tuesday Night Rock Store Race Ride (with less racy options).

Always be more aware and anticipate dangers when riding with your groups. You are the eyes of everyone behind you and the voice to point out obstacles, vehicles and other hazards - even when you are tucked into the peloton. Keep your spacing generous and focus your efforts on the climbs.

Let me know if I can help with anything bike or ride-related. I usually have extra gear, supplies and my toolkit, pump, etc.
And let's ride!

Our fire department has installed another 6 Dero Bicycle Repair Stands throughout the county and has invited us to the press gathering. Next week is National Bike to Work week, and so on Thursday May 17th we will meet at 9am in front of NP Bike Shop (they installed a stand there too!), have a press release and then ride our bikes over to the fire station on Reino Road (Fire Station 32, 830 S. Reino Road). We will gather to check out this stand before riding down to our Camarillo station, Fire Station 50 (at the Camarillo Airport). We will have coffee and light snacks. Then ride down toward Camarillo to see another stand at the fire station in Santa Rosa Valley. Then it's the ride home up the Norwegian Grade or the Read Bypass and back to NP Bike Shop. See you there!

When riding with CVC, you agree to:
* Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order.
* Ride to the right, pass on the left.
* Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane.
* Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents)

* Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians
* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador

PARKING
Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row.  Do not park next to the homes.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped.  As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.

If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader.

Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.

Let's ride,
