[image: bike parts.jpg] During our Ride Leader's meeting, we discussed what our club protocol will be for mechanical or other issues while on a ride. First off, all club rides except "purple" and "social" are "drop" rides. This means it is every riders responsibility to know the route prior to the ride. If you are slower than the rest of the group, you may be "dropped"/left behind to find your way through the route and home. With that in mind, CVC is a social club at heart. The purpose of a group ride is to ride with others. If you have a mechanical (flat tire, derailleur malfunction, etc.), crash, or health problem (feeling dizzy or ill) yell out loudly to alert your group. The group will stop and assess the situation, unless it is not safe to do so at that location. The ride leader will determine next steps and alert the group. At least one rider will stay and assist. Most often I have encountered that the whole group waits and helps, but there are times when someone can't wait due to time constraints. If there is a crash that involves medical attention, the ride leader will stay (or designate someone else to stay behind) until help has arrived and treated the rider, as well as helping to inform their emergency contact. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. -- Taylor Hodoose 805-390-2200
