CVC Saturday Orange Level local and Away Rides -- Local Start Saturday June 16th 8:30 AM Away Start 9:00 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot for local ride - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Westlake to Stunt down Fernwood to Old Topanga returning on Mulholland. Weather forecast is for 79 Deg., at the start the temperature should be in the mid 60 Deg. Hi Everyone, On Saturday June 16th. starting at 8:30 AM is the local ride which is going up Stunt down Fernwood Pacifica to Old Topanga and returning on Mulholland. In addition there is an away ride with Sag Support Starting at 9:00 AM on Glendora Mt. Rd. - Mt. Baldy Village -Claremont-La Verne-San Dimas-Glendora. This ride have impeccable views as you ride along the ridgeline; however, it is a challenging constant climb to the top. Away Ride only, Ride leader is Jim Doane: Start: 9:00am : Foothill Blvd. & Valley Center Dr., Glendora CA - parking lot on East side of Valley Center Dr. (south of school buildings) Car Driving Instructions: ( 50 miles from Westlake ) Travel to #210 Frwy: East to Glendora Exit: Lone Hill Ave (turn left at bottom of off -ramp: going N) First major intersection is route # 66 = turn left 1 block on Rte # 66 bear to right on a diagonal street called: Compromise Line Rd. about 1/4 mi. = R on Valley Center Ave. look for Glendora H.S. Parking lot on Right side ( East side of road)Glendora High School The following is the route and Jim Doane will be leading this route. http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=1854 Local Ride Route Norm Weir will be leading the local ride: We are riding to San Juan Bautista De Anza for the first re-group then we are making a single file right on Las Virgenes to a Left on Mulholland and a right on Stunt. Please be careful and cautious descending towards Topanga and do not all leave at the same time. No passing on the descent unless on a straight after notifying the rider in front and absolutely no passing on any turns. Fernwood Market is the next re-group before returning on Old Topanga to Mulholland where the water bottles can be filled at the Guard building across from 7Min Hill.Reference detailed map and route slip below for details: Please use the restroom before departing. Fernwood Market at Fernwood and Topanga. The guard building across from 7Min Hill for water. As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM then splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange Ride is an Intermediate/advanced recreational ride, 40-60 miles in length.It is mandatory to have and ware a helmet and it is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is valid (check expiration on helmet inner tag, usually good for five years) and in good working condition. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. Things to have: Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop. Tools to perform minor repairs. Chain repair linkage. Inner-tube and inflated device. Cellular phone. Food to replenish energy. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the rideroute has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market.
