CVC Thursday Evening Picnic Ride -- Thursday June 21th (Ride at 5:30 PM) (Picnic at 7:00 PM) Meeting at Westlake Association Building on Triunfo West of Lindero Canyon Rd. Route: Lake Malibu and Sherwood loop with an approximate 20 miles distance. Weather forecast is for 78 Deg., at the time of the picnic the temperature should be in the high 60 Deg. Hi Everyone, Please join us in welcoming our new Picnic Ride Leader Sherrie Felton. Sherrie will continue the outstanding tradition of Jan’s Picnic Ride. Jan established and led the picnic ride for years and as a result many friendships were made over a glass of fermented grapes, cheese, crackers and fruits. Jan it is an honor to know you and to be in your company, you are appreciated and will be missed. We all wish you the very best in your new home. This Thursday June 21st Starting at 5:30 we are riding from Westlake, West of the Westlake Association Building, to the Malibu and Sherwood lake loop. Following the ride join the traditional picnic while enjoying the tranquility of the lake and the company of your fellow cyclists. Reference detailed map and route slip below: Direction to the Start location: Triunfo Canyon Rd just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building in Westlake Village. From the 101 Fwy, take Lindero Cyn. south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area where we picnic after the ride. Park along the curb. No Drops: I wait for the slowest rider at each regroup stop. Waiting at regroup stops is optional for faster riders who are familiar with the route. Short Route: Westlake Lake Laps Start: Those riding lake laps may start at any time. Cruise around the lake in wide bike lanes. One lap = approximately five miles. Flat with no left turns and no discernible hills. Proceed North up Triunfo Canyon Rd RT onto Westlake Blvd RT onto Agoura Rd RT ont Lindero Canyon Rd RT onto Triunfo Canyon Rd Back to start point on Triunfo Another time around? Safety Notes: Please do not call out "clear" at intersections. The intersection may not be clear for the rider(s) behind you. If you start with the group but later decide to cut the ride short or take a different route, please let the ride leader know at a regroup stop or leave me a message (Sherrie's cell: 908-432-3480) so I won't be waiting or looking for you. Picnic: Starts 7:00 p.m. Please bring something to share: cheese crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever; a beverage and something to drink it out of if you don't want to drink it out of the bottle; something to sit on and a warm jacket. Bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, significant others. The Picnic Ride is an recreational ride, at an average speed of 10+ mile per hour. It is mandatory to have and ware a helmet and it is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is valid (check expiration on helmet inner tag, usually good for five years) and in good working condition. It is a "no drop ride" the ride leader will make sure that everyone that is partaking in the ride completes the ride; however, if you are deviating from the route, please inform the ride leader. Try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. Things to have: Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop. Tools to perform minor repairs. Chain repair linkage. Inner-tube and inflated device. Cellular phone. Food to replenish energy. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the rideroute has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride.
