Obviously, there is something wrong with him, but is there more to it? Which hill climbs are your nemesis? For some the long slow grind is more difficult than a quick steep climb. Ask yourself why. Are you losing energy along the way of that slow grind? Maybe you need to get more nutrition in the morning and along the ride so your body has enough energy to last. Does that steep pitch feel like more than you can handle? Ask your fellow riders what gearing they are using. Maybe an extra few teeth in the back is just what you need. And practice your weaknesses. If Latigo is tough, climb it more often. When you are more familiar with a route, you know how long you will be suffering and how much more you need to push to reach the top. It will get a little easier each time physically and mentally. *When riding with us:* · wear helmets and ensure your bike is in good working order · stay in bike lanes and no more than two abreast on them; single file otherwise · not overlap wheels · descend carefully! Look out for debris, animals, potholes, tight bends, and slick spots · pass slower riders on the left · ride predictably: signal when changing lines and call out hazards · avoid bunching up · respect all traffic rules and the rights of motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians · Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. -- Taylor Hodoose 805-390-2200
