This week’s Safety Message: Staying Safe Around On-Ramps We’ve all been there — riding along when the right lane suddenly becomes an on-ramp and cars start picking up speed to merge onto the freeway. It can get sketchy fast if you’re stuck hugging the edge. A good move is to shift into the middle lane early, sometimes a few blocks before the ramp. If there’s a traffic light ahead, make the lane change before it turns green so you don’t get trapped on the right. It’s all about reading traffic flow and planning ahead — small moves like this keep our group rides smooth and stress-free. One such large intersection is in Camarillo where Santa Rosa/ Pleasant Valley Road cross the 101 where there are multiple on-off ramps. Just one example of thinking ahead before approaching freeway crossings.
