Gravel/Mountain Bike Ride, Leader: Alfonso Canella Point Mugu State Park (Overlook Trail, Sycamore jeep road). Choose your start from: 9 am start at Satwiwa (take Lynn Road west past Reino, make left on Goleta; meet at parking lot) 9:30 am start at Sycamore Cove campground entrance.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT Hey CVC, The weather looks like it will cool off and be nice this weekend, with temps in the high 80's on Saturday and the low 80's on Sunday. It will also be a bit windy, so keep an eye out for debris and anticipate gusts on those fast descents. We had a rider hit a pinecone and go down last week. They are dangerous. Call out and watch out!

On Saturday, we have four rides going out of the Landing. The Red Ride will be doing Old Topanga and Fernwood, with a descent down Stunt. The Orange will be doing the full Simi Loop, starting toward Calabasas, over Santa Sue and back through Thousand Oaks. The Gold ride will be heading south as well, down Agoura, through Calabasas and back over Cardiac, 7-Minute and King Gillette. And the Purple Ride is rolling around the lake before climbing up Reyes Adobe and Lindero to Kanan and Fountainwood in Oak Park.

On Sunday, we've got three rides. The G.O. Ride will do a nice 3-Lakes tour with Westlake, Lake Sherwood and Lake Malibu. The Social ride is heading directly south on Agoura to Cornell and Lake Malibu for a nice out-n-back ride. And the new Mountain Bike/Gravel ride will start in Newbury Park at Satwiwa Park and ride Sycamore to the beach and back. Please note the start location in Newbury Park for that ride.

We've also got midweek rides Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, including the Rock Store race ride Tuesday night (last ride this week - now beginning at 5:00pm), Wednesday afternoons with Sheri, and destination rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings (now starting at 9am).

With the winds this week, keep an eye out for debris in the lanes (especially branches and tree limbs) and warn riders behind you of everything coming at them! You are their eyes when you are on the front - as well as in the pack. Keep your spacing generous and use your efforts on the climbs.

Evening Ride - Leader: Jonathan Woodbury The fast-paced Rock Store ride continues on Tuesday. This week we will roll out at 5:00 pm PDT sharp! So both groups will leave at 5:00. Both rides leave from the Landing's parking lot. Sunset is 6:06 pm this week. That should give everyone time to return before sunset, especially if you take the Mulholland right turn at the Encinal "Y". Lights are recommended even if you plan on getting back in time. If you have a mechanical, you don't want to be stuck without a light after dark.

Wednesday Afternoon ride - Leader Sheri Leiken Rollout at 3:45 from the Landing (location changes each week so watch for separate announcement). SO.... start penciling in those Wednesday afternoons for some fun times and the cure for those hump day blues.

SAFETY REMINDERS If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise. There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving.If you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rules of the road.

When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians * Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador

PARKING Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes.

ADDITIONAL NOTES The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.

If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader.

Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
