Beth will be unavailable to ride until May 12th - so folks - ride nicely together! Look out for new riders and make sure everyone KNOWS the route and the REGROUP spots. If possible, be sure that everyone has a partner that matches their riding capability. PS - Feel free to drop me an email after your ride to let me know how it went! This week's Saturday Purple Ride takes us on the Malibou Lake Loop. It is 19.2 miles, with around 1200ft of climbing - all rollers or not much worse! Remember - you can loop Westlake at the end for an extra 5 miles of flat rolling! Afterward, join the other members at the Natural Cafe for lunch! Here is the route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/381518 Things you need for every ride: Helmet-MandatoryWater or Sports DrinkI.D.Cell phoneSpare tubeCO2 cartridge or hand pumpPatch kitRoute slip We will meet at Citibank (corner of Agoura Hills and Westlake), rolling out at 8:30 AM. To see Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Purple Ride, click here: http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=3127 The Purple ride is a beginner club ride with a 12-13 mph average pace but is open to all levels. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Sunday and make any necessary repairs. Although the Purple ride is a "no drop" ride, for the enjoyment and safety of the participants, we will keep a 12-14 MPH average. If you feel you are not Purple ready, but want to work up to the Purple level, please contact the Ride Captain who will gladly give you some pointers and advise. We strongly recommend that you come out and meet the riders! The best stepping stone to grow into a Purple rider is to ride around Westlake! When you can sweep those 5 flat miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph pace, and still feel ready for more, then you will be able to handle many of the standard Purple routes. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Above all, let's have Fun!! Beth McElhenny 818-207-3186
