Seems a silly question, but I notice that we have a lot of riders not wearing the uniform on Saturday and Sunday group rides. Wearing our team kits helps promote the club to attract new members. If you do not have a CVC jersey, contact Sheri. Why do we need more members? Because you can’t have a group ride without a group. Show your pride in the club, attract some attention, and remember that CVC is a social club. Chat up riders as you cross paths. Safety Tip of the Week:  Watch for and Avoid Road Hazards-Be on the lookout for hazards such as potholes, broken glass, gravel, puddles, leaves, and dogs. All these hazards can cause a crash. Always ride with at least one hand on the handlebars. Save the “look, Ma, no hands!” tricks for the driveway at home. Carry books and other items in a bicycle carrier or backpack.  In wet weather watch your speed as surfaces may be slippery and it will take you longer to stop. When riding with us: · wear helmets and ensure your bike is in good working order · stay in bike lanes and no more than two abreast on them; single file otherwise · not overlap wheels · descend carefully! Look out for debris, animals, potholes, tight bends, and slick spots · pass slower riders on the left · ride predictably: signal when changing lines and call out hazards · avoid bunching up · respect all traffic rules and the rights of motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians · always use proper hand signals to indicate to drivers and other riders your intentions · we are a "rules of the road" cycling club · Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride.
