Dear CVC,

We have been asked to invite mountain bike members to volunteer with the Great Race on Saturday, April 1. Are you familiar with the Great Race?

In its 38th year, the Great Race in Agoura Hills is one of the largest running events in the Los Angeles area and has donated more than $1.7 million to schools in Agoura Hills and Oak Park. It also contributes to Food Share of Ventura County.

One of the 6 races we offer is the Chesebro Half marathon.  Most of this race is run through Old Agoura and on trails in Cheesebro National Park.  We need mountain bikers to assist with this race to ensure the safety of our runners, and I was hoping your members would be interested.  Specifically,

6:00am - 10:00am
mountain bike through trail portion of Chesebro Half Marathon course. One person to be pace bike, and be skilled and fast enough to keep ahead of lead runner(s). Must be familiar with course and be able to lead through 7.5 miles of trail portion of race (knowing all the turns).

Second and third persons are roving monitors of the course to ensure safety and look for any injuries.
Fourth person is sweeper and follows last runners through trail and releases course monitors to leave their positions and clean up. Working with Mark Spiro, Race Coordinator.

The timing is 6am - 10am on Saturday, April 1.  ATTACHED is the course map and flyer to share. It should be really beautiful up there on April 1!

We would really appreciate any assistance you can give us in spreading the word to your members and encouraging them to volunteer.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Jodi Regan
Volunteer Manager-The Great Race

This is a great cause and a really good way for our riders to be involved in a community event.
Please mention to Jodi that you are with CVC.

Thank you,
Sheri
