Conejo Valley Cyclists

Saturdays rides start at the Landing and Sundays at Starbucks

This week’s Safety Message:

A Road ID bracelet is one of the simplest pieces of gear you can wear, but it can make a huge difference if something happens while you’re out riding alone or with a group.

>         • If you’re in an accident and can’t speak for yourself, first responders know who you are right away.

>         • Your loved ones can be reached quickly, which speeds up communication and reduces confusion.

>         • Medical info like allergies, conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes), or medications can be lifesaving details for EMS.

>         • You (and your family) ride with more confidence knowing that if something happens, critical info is available.

>         • Often, we ride with people who don’t know our personal details, they can still help first responders by pointing them to our bracelet.

> https://www.roadid.com/ offers several options from $25-$40.

>

> At the very least you should set up your medical info and emergency contacts on your Phone or Android. Anyone can unlock your phone to retrieve this info.
For iPhone Hold Side + Volume to get to emergency info.  For Android, swipe up for emergency info.  If you do not have this set up, follow this link for instructions.

When riding with us, you will:

·      Use helmets and bike lanes! Call out hazards and ride predictably.

·      Avoid bunching up; don’t overlap wheels.

·      Keep a prudent distance and ride single file on narrow roads.

·      Ensure your bike is in good working order.

·      Descend carefully!

·      Pass slower riders on the left and signal when changing lines.

·      Respect traffic laws and the rights of motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.

·      If the weather is inclement, we will cancel ALL rides.
