De Anza Park & Back
From Citi Bank we'll get over to Agoura Rd the usual way, out the back door of the center right on Townsgate, right on Lake View and turn left
onto Agoura Rd. Then head to Kanan Rd and the first regroup on the far side of the intersection (please stay out of the road at any regroup). Carry on to a right on Malibu Hills just past the sheriff's bunker another right onto Calabasas Hills and right again on Lost Hills. Stop and regoup at De Anza Park and take care of... well whatever. Once we are ready do an about face and trace our way back to the start. Now park the bikes away and let's drink coffee
and swap lies.
NOW FOR ALL THE OFFICIAL STUFF...
Purple
Ride Info: This is the easiest of the CVC group rides based on lower
mileage, a slower average pace and less hill climbing, unless of course
the read leader is in a bad mood and wants to torture all the beginners,
ok just kidding. Although it is called a beginner recreation ride,
there is a minimal amount of fitness required to maintain the 12-13 mph
average pace. If you can
average 15mph for two laps 'round The Lake (Westlake) you are there but
you must promise not to make fun of the ride leader if you drop them.
Routes vary in length from 12 to 25 miles with a maximum of 1500 feet of
climbing. We do our best to ensure no one gets dropped on this ride by
having frequent regroups. Ride leaders can almost always use an extra
volunteer (slave) to help the ride leader. If you are a fit rider using
the Purple ride as an active rest ride be aware this will be active rest
with the emphasis on s-l-o-w, be patient and keep the pace down, try
something completely different, stay with the group, share some of your
knowledge with the newbies and help the ride leader.
Inclement
weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either
actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy
to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in
these conditions; however, the ride will
not be considered an official club ride. See all the British memebers
will still be there astonished that nobody else is riding what with the
weather being so jolly.
After the ride, please join us at one of
the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural
Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. This is the time
to brag and tell lies about what you did on the ride, a time honored
tradition.
Please remember to park in the area along Westlake
Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area
in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the
lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere.
