Hidden Valley / Golf Course / Shorter Route Back Agoura Rd

First up congrats to last week's Purple riders the Purple Excited Riders Flying Excellently and Correctly Together, P.E.R.F.E.C.T. It's true the ride leader, who now after accomplishing this amazing feat of leadership must be refered to as Ride Leader Supreme Sir, managed to get The Purple Ride to execute a well ordered, well sometimes well ordered, single file paceline through Hidden Valley. Both ways!! We were an awesome display cycling choreography which is much different then the typical "herding cats" look on the Gold Ride pacelines. Take that all you smug, fitter Gold Riders and just remember you Gold Guys may be younger and better looking but we Purple Riders out weigh you!!

NOW FOR THE RIDE...

From Citi Bank out the back side of the center as usual and right to Lake View then right again and left onto Agoura Rd. Right on Lindero and 'round The Lake. Left onto Westlake Blvd and right on Potrero. Through Hidden Valley by skirting along the lake on Lake Sherwood Dr. REGROUP at the stop sign at Potrero. Left onto Potrero and through the valley. REGROUP at the top of the climb out of the valley. Down, CAREFULLY, to a right on Wendy REGROUP at this turn and down to a right on Lynn. In a couple of miles right on Greenmeadow, REGROUP at this turn to be certain everyone makes it. Up the 100ft long little grinder that will have you walking if you don't use your smallest gear. This takes you through the golf course and over to the end of Moorpark Rd. Wave to all the mountain bikers in the parking lot then left onto Moorpark and right onto Rolling Oaks Dr. At the top of the little hill (little hills will be refered to as speed bumps from here on) left on Haaland. Immediately after turn is a 'round-about. Four laps round the round-about which will count as your first velodrome experience, only without the steep banking. Left at Rancho and under the 101. At T.O. Blvd right past the Civic Center and right again on Old Conejo School Rd. How old is the school and where is it anyways? Under the 101, past the Spectrum Club (have you used that membership yet?) and now the street has become Willow Dr. Right onto Skyline then right onto Foothill Dr. Wrap around the backside of the Ole K-Mart and right onto Hamshire and back to the start.

NOW FOR ALL THE OFFICIAL STUFF...

Purple Ride Info: This is the easiest of the CVC group rides based on lower mileage, a slower average pace and less hill climbing, unless of course the read leader is in a bad mood and wants to torture all the beginners, ok just kidding. Although it is called a beginner recreation ride, there is a minimal amount of fitness required to maintain the 12-13 mph average pace. If you can average 15mph for two laps 'round The Lake (Westlake) you are there but you must promise not to make fun of the ride leader if you drop them. Routes vary in length from 12 to 25 miles with a maximum of 1500 feet of climbing. We do our best to ensure no one gets dropped on this ride by having frequent regroups. Ride leaders can almost always use an extra volunteer (slave) to help the ride leader. If you are a fit rider using the Purple ride as an active rest ride be aware this will be active rest with the emphasis on s-l-o-w, be patient and keep the pace down, try something completely different, stay with the group, share some of your knowledge with the newbies and help the ride leader.

Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. See all the British memebers will still be there astonished that nobody else is riding what with the weather being so jolly.

After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. This is the time to brag and tell lies about what you did on the ride, a time honored tradition.

Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere.
