Question of the week: Is it important to look left?  I always look to the right down the road, but sometimes forget to look left.  This morning I dropped my chain and had to pull over to put it back on.  Before I started pedaling, I gave a quick glance forward, and then off I went.  A moment later I realized that I had not even looked back to the left/behind me to see if there was another cyclist or car coming in my direction.  Luckily for me the road was open, but it gave me a fright thinking about what “could have been”.  Left, right, then left again.

Safety Tip of the Week:  Two at The End-For safety and as a courtesy, if the group spreads out, the last two people should adjust their speed to ride as a pair. If either should need assistance, they will have a helping hand.
When riding with us:
·      wear helmets and ensure your bike is in good working order
·      stay in bike lanes and no more than two abreast on them; single file otherwise
·      not overlap wheels
·      descend carefully!  Look out for debris, animals, potholes, tight bends, and slick spots
·      pass slower riders on the left
·      ride predictably: signal when changing lines and call out hazards
·      avoid bunching up
·      respect all traffic rules and the rights of motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians
·   always use proper hand signals to indicate to drivers and other riders your intentions
·   we are a "rules of the road" cycling club
·     Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining
or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride.
Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions;
 however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride
