CVC RIDE PREVIEW
January 17-January 22
------------------------
Who wants to sweep?......
.....Since we have committed to riding in a group, and we all are watching out for each other, let's share in the sweeping duties. It's only until the next re-group spot. Plus, it gives a chance to relax, smell the roses a bit, and ensures that everyone gets back safely.

-THE WEEKLY RIDES-
CVC Memorial Ride (Rained out last week)
We gather together to remember and commemorate our friends & members who are now in a more peaceful place.
We'll all ride together as a group to Peter Strauss Ranch on Mulholland for a group picture & brief remembrance.
Please wear your club kit for the group picture which we'll post to the club website.
Red, Orange, Gold, Purple-Leaders: Jim Doane, Cam Young, Matt Merrit, and....
.... last but not least, Bill Sietsema. This will be Bill's last ride with us as Purple Ride Leader. He is moving out of town to be closer to his new job. We cannot thank Bill enough for the great job he has done with all the new cyclists that have come to CVC. He has always made new folks feel safe and his rides were always a pleasure. His patience, cycling expertise, and gentle teaching have helped many move up to the other ride levels. We'll miss seeing his smiling face at the ride starts. Best of luck to you, Bill!
----------------------------------
This will be a combo ride for all levels riding together to Peter Strauss Ranch with alternatives for returning. The base route will be Rock Store via Cornell. From there, riders will have four choices:
Return the way we came via Mulholland and Cornell (best route for those not wanting to descend upper Westlake)
or,
Stay on Mulholland, climb Rock Store and return to Westlake,
or,
go upper Encinal, and then again choose to return to Westlake,
or,
descend via Encinal to the coast, stopping at Leo Carrillo for water/restrooms. From there riders can choose which canyon to return on.

All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.
If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader.
It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag) and that your bike is in working condition as well.
That’s all for now, folks. Have a great week!
