Safety Reminder: Approaching Old Place on Mulholland / Troutdale

During this week’s rides, our group had regrouped at Old Place. As the smaller group arrived, they rounded the corner—where the stop sign isn’t visible until you’re already turning—and unexpectedly encountered a couple walking their dogs across Mulholland. The pedestrians were startled, and riders had to brake quickly before continuing the left turn.

With Rockstore now included in many of our routes, it’s important we reinforce safe riding behavior at this intersection.ROCK STORE OPENING TO CARS THIS WEEK!

Please make sure to:

  • Slow to 5 mph or less as you approach Old Place.

  • Actively look for cars and pedestrians before making the turn.

  • Stop completely if you see anyone—don’t just slow down. There is a stop sign here even if you can’t see it until you turn.

  • Remember: pedestrians always have the right of way.

  • Remember, use one side of the road, as this will now be open to cars

We’ve already seen more than one close call at this spot. Let’s do our part to keep everyone—riders and pedestrians—safe.

Thank you,
