CVC Saturday Purple Ride June 2, 8:30 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot: Westlake Blvd & Agoura Road (Citibank / Sprouts Parking lot) Route 1: Old Agoura Loop, with variables! http://ridewithgps.com/routes/957962 Route 2: Chatsworth Reservoir Loop http://ridewithgps.com/routes/956667 Hi Purple Riders, This Saturday the Purples will have TWO routes to choose from! This should bring in some of the much requested variations and new scenery! Recommendation: PAIR UP! Route 1 runs close to our common stomping grounds, but takes some new streets! There are many options for those who wish to add on to their miles - and options for those who don't. :-) Beth will lead this route! Route 2 runs East out Agoura Road (as you've all done), then thru Calabasas, and up around the Chatsworth Reservoir! The beauty here is that the route is a very straight shot, so you may choose to turn around at any point without fear of getting lost. KNOW YOUR LIMITS! This will be an awesome route for those ready for the extra miles this weekend! This is the same route as the GOLD ride, but Purple riders should be sure to stick together and go at the pace they are comfortable with. Contact me directly if you want to "lead" this route. We will meet at Citibank (corner of Agoura Hills and Westlake), rolling out at 8:30 AM. Please come EARLY for parking! To see Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Purple Ride, click here: http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=3127 The Purple ride is a beginner club ride with a 12-13 mph average pace but is open to all levels. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Saturday and make any necessary repairs. Although the Purple ride is a "no drop" ride, for the enjoyment and safety of the participants, we will keep a 12-14 MPH average. If you feel you are not Purple ready, but want to work up to the Purple level, please contact the Ride Captain who will gladly give you some pointers and advise. We strongly recommend that you come out and meet the riders! The best stepping stone to grow into a Purple rider is to ride around Westlake! When you can sweep those 5 flat miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph pace, and still feel ready for more, then you will be able to handle many of the standard Purple routes.
